The international IOTA program was established in 1964 to promote radio contact with stations located on islands all over the world. From small rocky islands in vast oceans to the biggest islands, this program has promoted radio contacts since 1964. Many IOTA participants and fans can relate stories of adventures on remote islands. IOTA represents the sense of adventure that each radio amateur experiences, even if they don't set sail themselves. It is also a sign of friendly competition between radio amateurs. IOTA represents the importance of amateur radio, as a unifying force around the world.

Motto-ul celui de-al 47-lea radio HAM este „60 de ani de insule în aer: tehnologia întâlnește aventura!”.

În perioada 28 - 30 iunie 2024, expoziția internațională de radio amator va reuni profesioniști din industrie și entuziaști ai comunității radioamatorilor.
